current projects

I am the UX designer for a small team developing solutions for a growing manufacturing company.

2024

  • Our client’s workflow currently involves lots of switching between websites and apps as well as manual data entry.

Can our small but resourceful team provide a solution that scales with their expansion?

  • The team is keeping things agile as we adapt to ongoing stakeholder interviews.

As the team negotiates with the client and works on the back end, I am researching comparable apps and building wireframes.

My contributions will culminate in a MVP-level Figma prototype.

  • We expect to finalize an MVP in the second quarter of 2025.

  • The level of discourse is sometimes over my head, and so I have responded by returning to the basics. This includes:

    • adhering to usability fundamentals

    • asking the right type of questions

    • constantly reviewing the scope and deliverables

I’m also working with a little inspiration from experiences depending on an app to function do my day job.

That energy is being channeled into conceptualizing an interface that is streamlined and ideally facilitates a flow state as the system matches the real world.

Colorado Medicaid Communications Improvements

I provided communications and usability recommendations that reached over one million members

“SupG” Production App

  • Colorado’s Medicaid program needed to update its communications and respond to member feedback to comply with new regulations.

Meanwhile, I needed to continue developing real-world experience as a recent UX bootcamp grad in a hyper-competitive job market.

  • I served on the member feedback council for five months before collaborating with my county’s workforce center to create a temporary contract position with the state.

User testing, interviews, accessibility evaluations and my personal member experiences revealed the insights I needed to develop a set of recommendations.

  • My stakeholder presentation was immediately endorsed by the digital product owner and resulted in the implementation of a comprehensive set of communication changes that reached over one million members.

  • A desire to engage stakeholders and make an impact was the driving force behind this entire experience.

As much as this was an exercise in usability and design, it was very much about connecting people and communicating a vision.

SSUP3 app prototype

2024

  • Self-published author Jim Allen was struggling to connect with a developer who could translate his learning method “SSUP3” into a digital product idea in his style.

He also faced a deadline as he had been invited to pitch his idea to stakeholders at two local universities.

  • Having collaborated on comics projects before, it was clear that I was Jim’s best choice to realize his vision.

We thoroughly reviewed the client’s instructional assets and after some prioritization work, we agreed on two main features:

    • interactive learning platform

    • comic strip creator

The instructional component would faithfully articulate Jim’s method, whereas the comic strip creator would allow me to express some of my interaction design ideas.

Through many rounds of rapid iteration and user testing, the prototype evolved as presentation time approached.

The final phase of our process included recording a video demo.

  • As of January 2025, the client is in the process of pitching the SSUP3 app.
